Stephen Eric Bronner was born in 1949 in the Washington Heights area of New York City. A participant in the student movement of the sixties while at CCNY, he recived his B.A. from that institution in 1971. After spending time in Europe (on a Fulbright Fellowship) and on the West Coast, he received his doctorate from the University of California: Berkeley in 1975. In addition to being an essayist and political commentator, Stephen Bronner has produced radio programs for Pacifica Radio and National Public Radio. Currently an assistant professor of political philosophy at Rutgers University, he has also edited and translated The Letters of Rosa Luxemburg.
